This course will go over how to use TriNet to handle new Sick Leave implications HR 6201 (Families First Coronavirus Response Act), eFMLA, Payroll Tax Credits and the Paycheck Protection Program.
So what is the Family First Coronavirus Response Act?
Well — it essentially mandates that employers with less than 500 employees, must offer Emergency Paid Sick Time and Emergency Family and Medical Leave. The bill was signed on March 18, 2020 and it goes into effect on April 1, 2020. To help ensure employers can manage the additional costs, they’ll be offered a tax credit for these benefits.
Who does it cover?
- As referenced before, the bill mandates that Employers with less than 500 employees, must offer Emergency Paid Sick Time.
- Full-time employees should receive 80 hours of Emergency Paid Sick Time, while part time employees should receive hours based on the number of hours worked within an average 2 week period.
- Employees will be able to utilize Emergency Paid Sick Time when caring for themselves during this pandemic, or taking care of a family member.
- Employees will be paid at different rates, dependent on which of the two reasons they are utilizing Emergency Paid Sick Time.
